Materials

2 small cardboard boxes2 metal measuring cups

Piece of black paper and piece of white paper

Instructions

1. Place a metal cup in each box.

2. Cover one box with white paper and one with black paper.

3. Place boxes in direct sunlight for several hours.

4. Uncover the boxes and let the children touch the metal cups.

5. Ask which is warmer.

6. Explain that darker colors absorb the light and heat while light colors reflect heat and light.
