Instructions

1. Give children wooden unit blocks shaped like triangles, rectangles, squares, etc.

2. Talk about using shapes to create other shapes. For example, show the children how to usetwo triangles to form a square, two squares to form a rectangle, etc.

3. Have the children experiment with different combinations to form new shapes. Ask them whatshapes they can make with two rectangles, four triangles, etc.

4. Encourage the children to create more complex designs such as an arrow, a house or an icecream cone.
