Instructions

* Record portions of the suggested music (and any others you like) so that each
selection is no longer than three minutes in length.
What to Do
1. Display pictures of different animals and choose certain children to
demonstrate how they think particular animals might move.
2. Have the children think about how an animal might move if it were sleepy or
hungry.
3. Put on some sample music, and encourage the children to think about what
kind of animal the music reminds them of. Encourage the children to act out
those movements.
4. Remind the children to listen to the different portions of music and pretend to
be suitable animals that fit the music.
5. Wind things down for them by playing slower and softer music so they
become slower animals or slower moving animals.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Can the children perform appropriate movements to fast or slow music?
* Can the children continue to pretend to be animals during dramatic play?
