Materials

white mural paper

crayons

watered-down watercolor or tempera paints

large paintbrushes

Instructions

1. Help the children draw seaweed, fish, coral, sharks, turtles, lobsters, and
other ocean life on a large piece of mural paper. Encourage them to use
bright colors and press firmly with wax crayons.
2. When completed, let the children paint over the entire mural with
watered-down blue paint.
More to do Field Trip: Visit an aquarium or a pet shop.
Science: Put a table, shelf, or indoor sandbox in front of the mural.
Encourage the children to bring in shells, seaweed, sea glass, sea stars, and
so on to make an ocean museum display.
