Red, yellow, and blue food coloring

Water

Ice cube tray

Small clear plastic cups

Plastic spoons

Paintbrushes

White construction paper

Instructions

1. Ahead of time, make red, yellow, and blue ice cubes with food coloring and water.

2. Have the children transfer the ice cubes with spoons to the plastic cups, encouraging them topair different primary colors in the cups.

3. As the ice melts, ask the children to identify the secondary color they have made by combiningthe pair of primary colors.

4.
