Who Stole the Cookie From the Cookie Jar? (use your favorite version)

Instructions

1. Before circle or group time, place a variety of items in the bag or box.
Examples include keys, necklace, crayon, scarf, whistle, glove, shoe, puppet,
flower, stuffed animal, magnifying glass, cookie cutter, play cell phone, video
tape, musical tape, map, sunglasses, golf ball, block, and any other item that
you think will spark the children's imagination.
2. When you have a few extra moments at group or circle time, invite the
children to create a story, perhaps beginning with "Once Upon a Time..."
3. Pass the bag around the circle. As each child pulls out an item, ask them to
incorporate that item into the story, weaving a unique tale.
More to do Change the items in the bag or box on a regular basis. Items can reflect on a
certain "theme" such as an adventure, a mystery, a funny story, a book, a
classroom theme, or the time or season of the year.
