Instructions

What to do
1. Talk to the children about how
they come to school. Ask if the
walk, ride in a car, or take a bus.
2. Make a class chart with the
label "Coming to School." Label
one column "Walk," a second
column "Car," and a third column
"Bus or Van." Write the
children's first names along the
side, making a grid.
3. Put out the crayons and invite
the children to come up, one at
a time, and draw a picture of
how they come to school in the
correct column. (For example, if
they walk they could draw a
stick figure or a shoe, if they
come by automobile they
could draw a car or truck, etc.)
Some children may need to
draw in two columns, if they
sometimes walk and sometimes
ride.
4. Display the chart in your classroom.
