White paper

Scissors

Tissue paper squares in fall colors

Water in bowls

Paintbrushes

Instructions

1. Ahead of time, cut leaf shapes from white paper.

2. Ask the children to place tissue squares on the leaf shapes one at a time and brush with water.

3. Allow to dry.

4. When completely dry, remove the tissue squares, leaving a colorful dye imprint on the leaf.More to doMath: Hold a contest to see who can find the biggest and smallest leaf. Sort leaves by shape, size,or color.More art: Make wax-paper transparencies of leaves or press them.Outdoors: Bring the class outside to play in the leaves and rake them into big piles.
