Materials

potato chip or nut can (container with a plastic lid and a metal bottom)

duct tape, if necessary

scissors or knife (adult only)

coins pennies, dimes, nickels, quarters

Instructions

1. Have the class sit in a circle on the floor. Choose one child to walk around the
circle.
2. That child walks around the circle and then chooses a friend to skip around
the circle with as everyone sings the following song, "Rig a Jig Jig."
As__________ was walking down the street, down the street, down the street,
A friend of his he chanced to meet, hi ho hi ho hi ho!
Rig a jig jig and away they go, away they go, away they go,
Rig a jig jig and away they go, hi ho hi ho hi ho!
3. After the song, the first child sits down and the second walks around the
circle once, and then chooses a friend to skip around the circle while you all
sing the song.
4. Continue until it is time for the next activity or until everyone has had a turn.
