Instructions

1. In the fall, take a walk outside and choose a "class tree." Take a color photograph of the tree with its brightly colored fall leaves. Hang the picture in the classroom for the children to see.

2. Take another photo when winter weather has taken all the leaves off the tree, another in spring of the budding tree and finally a summer photo of the tree in full foliage.

3. Make sure to display the tree pictures together as each season passes, so the children can see the changes in the tree.More to doMore science: Make environmental discussions more concrete by discussing the effects of pollution, paper waste, etc., on the class tree.Outdoors: Use the class tree in other ways, for example, as a place for a picnic, or for a leaf-raking expedition and jumping in the piles of leaves or to look for wildlife in it, etc.
