Instructions

1. After doing a unit on space, schedule a "Blast Off in Space" day.
2. Gather the children in a circle and show them how to make "space shoes" by
covering their shoes with foil and securing with rubber bands.
3. Tell the children they will now be taking a trip to space. Play the take-off
sound and count down from ten. "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, ...1, BLAST OFF!"
4. Explain that when the space music comes on, they are in space.
5. Encourage the children to get out of the "spaceship" and walk around. They
can even look for pretend moon rocks.
6. Finally, settle down for a space snack. Talk to the children about the foods
that astronauts eat.
