Materials

  1. Variety of bells
  2. Two cards
  3. Markers

Instructions

  1. Acquire a variety of bells in all shapes and sizes, such as jingle bells in various sizes, cow bells, hotel desk bells, and so on.
  2. Write the word "loud" on one card and "soft" on the other card. Write the words as they sound write "loud" in wide uppercase letters, and write "soft" in small, close together, lowercase letters. This will cue non-readers as to what the words say.
  3. Ring each bell separately. Does it make a loud or soft sound? Ask the child to put the bell next to the card that describes its sound.
