Balloons yarn favorite song of your class

Instructions

1. Blow up several balloons. There should be at least two balloons for each child.

2. Tie a piece of yarn to half of the balloons. The lengths of the pieces of yarn should vary. Put all the balloons in the center of your group time area.

3. Invite the children to come and do a balloon dance.

4. Explain to the children that you are going to play their favorite song and they may use the balloons as they move to the rhythm of the song.

5. Use the activity several times, changing the type of music you use. Try it with classical, jazz, or maybe the blues. Discuss with the children how and why they moved differently to each of the styles of music.

6. Ask them which style they prefer and chart the results.
