Instructions

1. Cover the table with newspaper. Pour paint into the cups and put them onthe table.2. Cut the bark paper into a variety of sizes, from 3" x 5" (7 cm x 12 cm) to 8" x10" (20 cm x 22 cm), and place them on the table along with the twigs.3. Have a discussion about twigs. Ask the children if they know where twigscome from.4. Encourage the children to feel the texture of the paper. It's usually smoothand may surprise the children!5. Explain to the children that they will use twigs to paint on the bark paper.6. When the children are finished painting, transition to the next activity bysinging the following to the tune of "The Ants Go Marching."When (child's name) is finished painting then,Hurrah! Hurrah!He'll wash his hands and go to (place),Hurrah! Hurrah!More to doUse twigs from different seasons. For example, use new green twigs in the spring,twigs with flowers on them in the summer, and so on.
