Instructions

1. Have the children decorate a piece of black paper with gel markers
(these show up better on darker colors), glitter glue, and shiny stickers.
Encourage the children to fill their paper with scribbles, shapes, and
designs.
2. Help the children wrap their drawings around the empty oatmeal
containers and glue in place. Put the plastic lid on the container.
3. Have fun marching around the room as everyone plays their drums.
Play some rousing marching music and have everyone play along.
4. If desired, play a simple game of Rhythm and Repeat with the children
and their drums. First, drum a simple pattern on your own drum, and
encourage the children to repeat it. Keep the patterns simple so the
children will be successful in their attempts.
More to do Find out if your area has a local drum group that would be willing to visit
your classroom and play for the children. Ask them to bring many different
types of drums for the children to experiment with and explore.

On each verse, use a different child's name. Have all the children beat on
their drums as you spell out each child's name. Avoid doing this song in
the typical Bingo fashion of repeating it over and over leaving a letter out
each time, it simply makes it too long and young children will easily lose
interest.
