Cookie's Week by Tomie de
Paola and Cindy Wardblank week-long calendarcrayons
Instructions
1. Read Cookie's Week and review with the children what Cookie did each day. (Cookie fell into the toilet on Monday, knocked over a plant on Tuesday, and so on.)2. Give each child a blank week-long calendar to take home. Ask the children to draw one thing their pet does each day. Send home a note with the calendars asking parents to write down what their child says about each day's drawing. For children who do not have pets, have them observe a class pet, a neighbor's pet, or an outside wild animal (like a squirrel or bird).
3. Place an enlarged version of the calendar and pictures of Cookie's daily adventures one of the classroom centers. Encourage children to place the pictures under the correct day.
4. Invite the children to share calendars the following week.
