Things to make a maze, such as chairs, table, tunnel, blocks, steps,

or whatever is handy

4 to 5 of the same item, such as cutout circles, beanbags, balls, or blocks

Instructions

1. Cut out pictures of birds and their particular type of nest from old workbooks or science books.2. Glue felt to the back of the pictures.3. Display the nests on a flannel board and discuss their differences.4. Show the children one bird at a time and ask them to name the bird and identify which nest the bird built as its home.5. Place the bird next to the correct nest on the flannel board. Continue until the children have identified all of the birds and their nests.6. Leave out the activity and encourage the children to play with it on their own free choice time.More to doBring in a real bird's nest for the children to observe.Snack: Make bird nests using melted butterscotch bits, chow mein noodles, and chopped peanuts.
