Instructions

1. When the children are studying something interesting or after a special
event, encourage them to brainstorm ideas about the topic while you
write them down on a piece of chart paper.
2. Talk to each child individually and have her dictate a story about what
she saw at the event or what she thinks about the interesting theme.
3. Encourage the children to draw pictures to go with their stories. Put a
picture of the child on her paper.
4. Glue the stories to larger pieces of colored construction paper and
laminate them, if desired. Bind the pages into a book.
5. Make a different class book each month the same way.
6. Let the children take turns bringing the books home overnight. If
desired, put a blank page at the back of each book for adults and
children to write down what they thought of the book.
7. At the end of the year, take all the books apart. Reassemble the pages of
each child into individual books. Children can bring their books home as
a reminder of their year.
