Instructions

1. Collect a variety of sports cards. If desired, laminate them or cover them with
clear contact paper for durability. Store them in a small box.
2. Ask the children to sort the cards according to sport. Ask questions such as:
"How do we know this is a basketball player? What equipment is used to
play baseball? Is football played inside or outside?"
3. Help the children count the cards in each sports category.
4. See if the children can sort the cards according to team (same hat, helmet,
jersey, and so on).
5. With the children, graph the cards according to sport. Ask questions such as:
"How many baseball cards do we have? Football cards? According to our
graph, which sport has the most cards?"
