What to do
1. Ahead of time, cut heart, lung, and stomach shapes from construction paper for each child. Cut
scrap pieces of wallpaper into the shape of a shirt for each child. As you will be tracing the children's
outlines onto paper, these shapes should be a realistic size.
2. Trace each child's body onto the wide paper. Cut along the outline, or cut the paper in a rectangle,
forming a background for their outline.
3. Have the children color their faces and their clothing from the waist down. Help them glue the
yarn hair around the outline of their heads, and the stomach, lungs, and heart in the chest area.
4. Glue the shirts to the outlines at the shoulders only so that the children can lift the shirt and
see what is inside their bodies.
More to do
Science: Have the children breathe deeply, filling their lungs with air and expanding their chest;
feel their heartbeat or listen with a stethoscope; and fill their stomach with a drink or snack.
