Materials

Two 1" (2 cm) cube blocks

Small stickers with a certain theme, such as Christmas, Halloween, insects,

transportation, food, dinosaurs, and so on

Instructions

1. Make up a story with the children. Begin with a sentence, such as "I have a
cat, and..."
2. Ask a child to add a sentence to your sentence. (Ahead of time, give examples
of things the children might add, such as where it lives, what size it is, its
name, its favorite food, things it plays with, whether it has brothers and sisters,
and so on.)
3. Ask the next child to add another sentence, and so on.
4. Afterwards, retell the story. What can you tell me about this cat? (For example,
it is red, it is soft, it says, "Meow.")
5. Tell the children, "I will tell you the story again. If I say something wrong say,
"Stop," and correct me so it is right." Then say, "I have a cat. It is blue." The
children will say, "Stop. It is red."
