Instructions

1. Use this activity for any transition time during the day.
2. Talk about space, gravity, and how astronauts move in space (very slowly).
3. Set up chairs in a circle facing outward.
4. Have the children pretend they are putting on a helmet and space suit. The
children sit in their chairs and pretend to strap themselves in to get ready for
take off. Together, count down "10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. Lift off!"
5. Children pretend they are being "whooshed" up into space. Ask them to look
out the windows of the spaceship and describe what they see.
6. Prepare for the landing. Is it a hard or soft landing? Take off seat belts.
7. Encourage them to get up slowly and move around "space," taking large
slow steps.
8. When they are finished walking, it is time to reverse the steps to go back to
"earth."
9. When you land on earth, tell the children what the next activity is.
