Materials

Smocks

Leaves

Cellophane tape or two-sided tape

Paper

Paint

Paintbrushes

Instructions

1. Have the children put on their smocks ahead of time.

2. Tape a leaf from underneath to a sheet of paper.

3. Invite the children to dip the brush in paint and run a finger over the tip of brush, causing thepaint to spatter.

4. Allow the paint to dry, then remove the leaf and see its impression on the paper.More to doMore art: Put watered-down paint in a water sprayer and invite the children to spray the paperwith the leaf taped on to it. When dry, remove the leaf. Collect an assortment of leaves and makean impression of each, then assemble the sheets of paper into a book of leaves. Design a muralfor the bulletin board using an assortment of leaves and spatter paint.
