Instructions

1. Each child collects seeds from foods they or others have eaten at home or at school. It may take a few days to build your collection. Keep each seed in a resealable plastic bag. Label by writing the child's name and type of seed on masking tape.

2. Each child receives a 24" x 4" piece of poster board, puts a drop of glue on the poster board and places a seed in the glue. The teacher writes the name of the seed next to it.

3. Each child may have as many seeds as desired. Eight seeds work well displayed in a single line.More to doFood: Many snacks, such as apples, kiwi, oranges, tomatoes, pears, string beans, etc. provide opportunities for discussions on the different families of seeds (vegetables and fruits), growing, gardening and plants and trees. Different seeds grow in different parts of the world for example, Guam grows bananas. New Jersey does not grow bananas, but it grows blueberries.
