chart paper

broad multi-colored marker

chart stand

markers or crayons

Instructions

1. when you have a few extra moments between activities, have the children sit
in a circle. Show them how to pat their thighs and clap their hands. Repeat
until they are able to do this. Start the patting rhythm and say the chant.
Teacher: Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?
Teacher: (child's name) stole the cookie from the cookie jar!
Child: Who, me?
Group: Yes, you!
Child: Couldn't be!
Group: Then who?
Child: (another child's name) stole the cookie from the cookie jar!
2. Repeat this until it is time for the next activity, or until everyone has had a
turn. When done give children a handful of alphabet crackers to eat.
