Instructions
1. Draw a circle about the size of your palm on a piece of paper. Add a rounded
tab at the top of the circle about the size of your index finger from the first
knuckle up.
2. Trace over the circle and tab with a black marker. Inside the circle (at the top)
write, "Today we read" and leave the bottom two thirds of the circle blank.
3. Draw an "X" near the top of the tab.
14. Repeat until you have made about six circles and tabs. This will be the
template.
15. Photocopy the paper several times.
16. Before you read a book to the class, write the title of the book inside a
circle. Make photocopies of the page and give one to each child.
17. After you read the book together,
encourage the children to draw their
own book illustration on their badge.
18. Cut out the Button Huggers (adult
only). Remember to cut the "X" as well
so children can hang them from their
buttons.
19. Write the child's name on the back of
his badge.
10. Show the children how the X-slit fits
over a shirt button so they can wear
their badge home. For children who
are not wearing a shirt with buttons,
attach the book badge using a small
strip of clear tape. Parents will love
knowing what book you read that day!
