Materials

Variety of magazines construction paper glue sticks or containers of white glue scissors

Instructions

1. Discuss the meaning of people in motion in conjunction with movement concepts. Show pictures of active people. Ask questions such as, "What is this person doing? What parts of this person's body would be moving? What game do you think they are playing? How do you know?"2. Ask the children to select and cut out pictures of people who look like they are moving or playing a game. For children who are unable to use scissors, provide assistance as they tear pictures from the magazines.3. Let the children glue the pictures to construction paper.4. Encourage discussion about the collages by asking questions. For example, "What is this person doing?" "What parts of her body are moving?" "Name the body parts that are bent, ...touching the ground, ...up in the air." "Have you ever played that game or done that activity?"
