Materials

5" squares of laminate, one for each child

red, blue, and yellow watercolor

paint

paintbrushes

Instructions

1. Give each child a laminate square.
2. Ask them to put all three colors of paint on their laminate. Encourage them to
swirl some of the colors together or blend them as desired.
3. Leave the paintings flat to dry.
4. Adhere the painted laminate squares to a window. Place them so that they
form a larger square, similar to a patchwork quilt.
5. When the sunlight shines through the paint, encourage the children to
comment on the colors they made.
More to do
Punch a hole into a corner of each laminate square and thread string through it.
Tie the strings on the end of chopsticks to make mobiles. Use different
interlocking shapes of laminate, such as squares and diamonds or triangles.
