Materials

Instructions

1. Give each child a pre-threaded blunt needle. Place a knot at the end of the thread.

2. Put a large bowl of popcorn and a large bowl of raisins on the table.

3. Show the children how to string the popcorn and raisins on the thread.

4. Make a pattern for the children to follow, or have them make their own patterns (for example, three pieces of popcorn, one raisin, three pieces of popcorn, and so on).

5. You may want to make several different patterns by gluing the items to a piece of paper before starting the project.

6. Go outdoors to hang the completed garland for the birds to eat. You may find that squirrels also enjoy the garland!
