Old books or workbooks scissors blue and orange tagboard or card stock glue stick laminator, optional felt rubber cement flannel board
Instructions
1. Look through old books or workbooks for brightly colored pictures of merchandise labeled with price tags (such as a comb for 10 cents, a ball for 25 cents, a sailboat for 7 cents, and so on) and the correct number of coins needed to purchase each item. You can also draw pictures of different items with price tags and pictures of coins.
2. Cut the blue tagboard or card stock to make the desired number of cards, approximately 3 1/2 " x 2 1/4 ". Cut enough for each picture of merchandise you have.
3. Cut the orange tagboard or card stock to make coin cards for each item of merchandise.
4. Glue the pictures of the merchandise a blue tagboard rectangle.
5. Glue the pictures of the coins needed to purchase each item to an orange rectangle.
6. Laminate both sets for durability, if desired.
7. Prepare the cards for flannel board use by gluing felt to the back of the cards using rubber cement.
8. To do the activity, the child places merchandise cards on the flannel board. Then he matches the coin set card to the corresponding merchandise card.
