* Independence Day is on July 4th.
1. Invite the children to use glue to make fireworks shapes on their blue
paper.
2. Have them shake glitter on the glue to make sparkly fireworks.
3. Cut two pieces of each color of ribbon for each child.
4. Help the children tie the ribbons on a dowel rod.
5. Have them put glue at the top of the dowel rod and slide the ribbon
knot over the top to secure the ribbons. Let dry.
6. Use scissors to curl the ribbons loosely from the end (adult only).
More to do Group or Circle Time: Talk about the Fourth of July and how it is also called
Independence Day. Talk about how fireworks are used to celebrate our
country's independence from England.

Fly
Into the night sky,
Rocketing up,
Everywhere sparkling,
Whizzing around me and
Over the crowd who
Roars their approval, the sparks
Kissing the stars
Surrounding us in glorious light.
