Materials

Instructions

1. First make a flannel board by cutting a piece of cardboard into a 9" square. Cut out a 9" square from light blue felt and glue it onto the cardboard square.

2. Cut out an 8" circle from brown felt. This will be the crust.

3. Cut out one 7 1/2 " circle from each of the other colors of felt. These will be the fillings (purple for grape, blue for blueberry, yellow for lemon, and red for cherry).

4. Cut the purple circle in half, the blue circle into quarters, the yellow circle into eighths, and the red circle into thirds.

5. Use the fraction pie to help the children learn fractions. For example, if you ask them to make one half, they might show you the purple piece, two blue pieces, or four yellow pieces. Older children can also use the pie to add the fractions together to make a whole pie.
