Materials

Pictures and books about ladybugs Stapler

Two 6" (15 cm) paper plates for each child Red and black crayons

Black construction paper Glue

Instructions

1. Read a book about ladybugs and allow the children to examine pictures.

2. Staple the plates together along the edges, three-quarters of the way around. The concave sides of the plates should be facing each other.

3. Color the top plate red and the bottom plate black.

4. Cut out and glue black spots on the red side and 6 black strips for legs on the black side. Glue a black half-circle for the head on one end of the plate, opposite the open section.

5. The child inserts her hand in the open section of the edge and uses the ladybug as a puppet.

6. Older children may want to color both plates black and color a third plate red. Glue black dots on the red plate and cut it in half.
