Clean 12 oz. (375 m

L) juice cans

White paper

Scissors

Red, black, and green paint

Shallow dishes

Thin paintbrushes

Black fine-tipped marker

Instructions

1. Beforehand, cut paper to fit around each can.

2. Pour red paint into a shallow dish and invite the children to make ladybugs by dipping athumb into the paint and pressing it on the paper. Encourage them to print many ladybugs.

3. In the meantime, pour black and green paint into shallow dishes.

4. Have the children paint black spots on their ladybugs using a brush.

5. When the paint dries, have the children add feelers using a black fine-tipped marker.Show the children how to paint the veined side of a leaf with a brush, then press the leaf to thepaper or felt, leaving its impression. Encourage the children to print leaves here and there amidtheir ladybugs.
