five monkeys (stuffed animals, plastic figures, pictures, or cutouts)
1. Say the following rhyme with the children and encourage them to act it
2. Hold up five stuffed monkeys or pictures of monkeys. Take one away as
each monkey bumps his head.
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed. (wave arms up and down)
One fell off and bumped his head. (put hand on head)
Momma called the doctor and the doctor said, (pretend to dial a phone, put
extended thumb and finger to side of head)
“No more monkeys jumping on the bed.” (shake finger as if scolding)
Repeat this poem until no monkeys are jumping on the bed.
