How Things Work

Materials

Instructions

1. Talk to the children about different
types of lines (wavy, straight,
zigzag, dotted, and so on).
Show them examples.
2. Explain that as they
listen to different
kinds of music, they
can "draw" the music
using different
types of lines.
Encourage them to
listen to how the
music makes them
feel, then draw how
they feel. For example,
soft music may inspire
them to make soft lines.
3. Have them use a new piece of
paper for each piece of music they
draw to.
4. Display all the artwork to show the range of emotion.
