* "Make a Difference Day" is the 4th Saturday in October.
1. Start this activity several weeks before "Make a Difference Day." Talk to
the children about how they can help make a difference to other
children.
2. Ask the children what they would like to do to help others in need. Some
ideas could be collecting food, toothbrushes and toothpaste, out-grown
clothing, or toys in good condition that are no longer played with.
3. When the children have decided what they would like to do for others,
research to see which agency in town could help disperse the collected
items to families in need.
4. Send a note home with the children letting parents know what the
children decided to do as their project. Ask the parents to help their
children collect the items and send them back to school.
5. Have the children help package the goods to take to the agency.
6. Hopefully (with your help) the agency will send a note back to the
children to let them know how their items were used.
More to do Language: Talk about other things that can be given to others, such as a
smile, a thank you, and a helping hand.
