Materials

small animals (stuffed or plastic)

carpet squares

colored tape or masking tape

pictures of animal habitats

(for example, animals that

live in a house or on a farm;

or rainforest, desert, and

arctic animals)

clear tape

Instructions

1. Use tape to divide a carpet
square into three equal
sections.
2. Decide on three habitats
that match a group of small
animals that you have
collected.
3. Find (or draw) pictures of
the three habitats and
attach each picture to one
section of the carpet
square with clear tape for
durability.
4. Put the animals and the
carpet square in the science
center and ask the children
to sort the animals
according to which habitat
they belong in.
