Activity Quick Finder:

Good Morning! Hello!

Materials:

none

Instructions:

1. Repeat the following in a sing-song chant with the children each morning,
encouraging them to repeat with you. Repeating the same chant each morning
for a week or more is good for young children, because the repetition will
allow them to learn the words and draw them into the lesson or day with
something familiar.
How does the duck say "good morning"?
Quack, quack, quack!
How does the duck say "hello"?
Quack, quack, quack!
Good morning, quack!
Hello!
2. Repeat for other animals, replacing "quack" with "moo," "neigh," "meow,"
and "bark."
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* As the children become more familiar with the chant, let the children take
turns improvising by adding animals they choose. Ask one or two children
each morning to lead the chant and choose the animals.
Assessment
Consider the following:
* Are the children able to memorize the morning greeting?
* Can the children replace the animal in the greeting, as well as replace the
sound with one appropriate for the new animal?
