Materials

Pastel colored construction paper

pencils

markers

scissors

stapler

hole punch

25-mm wiggly eyes

white glue

paper towels or tissue paper

1/4 " dowel rod, pencil, or tongue depressor

string

Instructions

1. Copy the fish pattern on the following page and cut it out. Cut out enough so
that each child gets one.
2. Encourage the children to trace the fish on two pieces of pastel paper and
then cut them out.
3. Help the children staple the two fish together, leaving the mouth area open.
Then punch one hole in the mouth through both sides.
4. Let the children use markers to draw a large eye on both sides of the fish, and
then glue wiggly eyes in the center of the colored eye.
5. Encourage the children to use a variety of colored markers to draw scales and
lines on the fish and to color the mouth.
6. Show the children how to stuff the fish with paper towels.
7. Tie string around a small dowel or pencil and through the punched holes on
the fish.
