Materials

Sand and water table sand or small rocks plastic alphabet letters

Instructions

1. Before the children arrive, hide the alphabet letters in the sand.

2. Let each child take a turn finding a letter.

3. Ask the children to hold up their letters and tell what it is.

4. Challenge them to feel around to find the letter their name starts with, without looking.

5. If desired, place 26 objects in the sand, one for each letter. Ask each child to find an object and tell what letter it starts with.
