felt with adhesive back (available in large sheets at hardware stores, with products designed to protect wooden floors) felt scissorsInstructions
1. Over a period of time, you can create a variety of theme boxes. These
provide great activities for the children to do during quiet times.
2. Cut adhesive-backed felt to fit flat outside the tape box. Adhere felt to the
plastic case.
3. Cut or purchase felt pieces to match the classroom themes (for example,
letters, numbers, shapes, farm animals, clothing shapes, story characters, and
so on).
4. Put the felt cutouts into the box. Label the outside with words or pictures for
easy identification and selection.
5. Let the play begin. Supervise and talk with the children about their use of the
material provided. Encourage language.
