Instructions

1. Talk about winter activities with the children. Ask the children if they have
ever seen figure skating or ice hockey on television or if they have ever been
ice skating. If possible, show pictures of ice skating.
2. Cut wax paper into rectangles.
3. Demonstrate how to place each foot on piece of wax paper and slide your
feet as if skating on ice. The wax and floor become slippery so be careful!
4. Place a rope in a large circle to mark the edges of the "skating rink."
5. This is a great winter activity to do without bundling up. A wooden or tile
floor can be more slippery than a commercial-grade carpet. Adult
supervision is necessary.
