Instructions

What to do
1. Tape the top and bottom of the box closed.
2. Cut a hole in the center of the box top, just big enough in which to
insert the wrapping paper tube.
3. Cut a hole in the bottom of the box just big enough to push the tube
through.
4. Insert the tube into the box through the holes so that it sticks out evenly
on both the top and the bottom.
5. Tape the areas where the tube comes out of the holes to secure it in
place.
6. Give the children scissors, wrapping paper scraps, and glue sticks.
7. Have them cut the scraps in any way they wish, and glue them to the
box.
8. Encourage them to overlap the scraps and to cover the box as much as
possible.
9. Use black marker to draw body parts (such as hand, head, leg, tongue,
etc.) on small pieces of white paper.
10. Glue each drawing of a body part on a side of the box.
11. Play this dreidel game by having the children stand in a circle and letting them take turns
spinning the dreidel.
12. When the dreidel lands, the children need to move the part of the body that is face up on the
box in an interesting way.
More to do
Manipulatives: Put out a few dreidels of different sizes for the children to practice
spinning.
Movement: Pretend to be dreidels. Play a Chanukah song and let the children spin. Stop
the song intermittently, and the "dreidels" can fall down.
