Materials

  • 5 to 6 different kinds of objects, such as pennies,
  • Empty black film containers
  • paper clips, marbles, buttons, rocks, etc.
  • Tape recorder and tape

What to do

1. Fill matching pairs of film canisters with different objects.

2. Give each child a film container, and ask her to find the child with a matching sound by shaking the containers and listening to their different sounds. Ask the children to guess what might be in the container making that particular sound. Then mix them up and play the game again.

3. Make a tape of different familiar sounds in and around the classroom. Next, listen to it at group time and identify the sounds.
