Materials:

book about dinosaurs
dinosaur outlines on butcher paper
crayons
dinosaur-shaped sponges
pie tins
bright-colored tempera paint
paper cups
clay



Instructions:

1. Draw dinosaur outlines on butcher paper.
2. Read a book about different types of dinosaurs while the children color in
the outlines of the dinosaurs.
3. Provide dinosaur-shaped sponges and pie tins full of bright-colored tempera
paint. Help the children make prints of different dinosaurs and label them
with their species name.
4. Give each child a cup and enough clay to fill half of the cup. Ask the children
to push the clay down into the bottom of the cup. Talk to the children about
fossils. Encourage the children to make their own fossils by putting their fist
into the cup and making an imprint.
