Materials

Black paper, one piece for each child Sky-blue paper, one piece for each child

Moon shapes Sun shapes

Cloud shapes Shiny star stickers

Glue

Instructions

1. After discussing things the children can see when they look up in the sky during the day and night, give them each some pre-cut shapes and sky-blue paper.

2. Ask them to choose the shapes they see in the sky during the day and glue them on the blue paper.

3. Give the children the black paper and ask them to glue the moon shape and the star stickers all over.

4. After both papers dry, glue them back to back and hang them from the ceiling. The air will cause the papers to rotate from day to night. The nighttime stars will glitter and shine in the light.

5. As an alternative, provide the children with light-colored construction paper and encourage them to cut or tear out their own shapes for the day and nighttime sky pictures.More to doArt: Make a sky collage.Math: The children can sort the shapes into categories relating to day and night.
