Instructions

1. Ask the children to choose a partner.
2. Then ask each pair to sit across from each other with their legs crossed. The
partners hold hands.
3. As the group sings "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," the children rock back and
forth. They are working on pulling and pushing.
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream,
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream.
4. Repeat the song several times.
5. This is a good activity to work on cooperation. It is also a good filler when
there is extra time between planned tasks.
More to do
When children must sit and wait, this can break up the need for movement and
curb the wiggling.
