Wooden, spring-type clothespin
Instructions
1. Draw three owls (about 3" tall) on brown construction paper. Cut them out.
2. Draw a moon on the yellow construction paper and a tree on the black
construction paper and cut them out.
3. On the back of each cutout, stick a piece of double-sided tape.
4. Place the moon and tree on the bulletin or flannel board.
5. As you begin the verse, place the three owls somewhere on the tree. As you
continue with the verse, take away one owl at a time while the children
name the number of owls left. (To help with number recognition, you may
want to put numbers on the owls.)
Three little owls stay awake all night,
Sitting in the tree in the moon's bright
light.
One flies away whooo,
whoo, whoo
Left are...two.
Two little owls stay
awake all night,
Sitting in the tree in the
moon's bright light.
Another flies away and hoots,
"This is great fun!"
Left is ...one.
One little owl stays awake all night,
Sitting in the tree in the moon's bright light.
It flies away and cries, "I'm the last one."
Left are...none.
