Instructions

What to do
1. Have the children cut out shapes in the bread with the cookie cutters. Set the excess bread
aside for breadcrumbs later.
2. Invite the children to poke a hole at the top of the shape with a pencil (well within the edge of
the shape).
3. Show the children how to thread the yarn through the hole and tie a knot creating a loop
hanger.
4. Encourage the children to spread the peanut butter or lard onto the shape with the butter
knife.
5. Then have the child sprinkle birdseed onto the shape and gently pat into place.
6. Allow the ornaments to dry and then, on a sunny day, hang the feeders in a nearby tree for the
wild birds to enjoy.
